Ive heard of alot of people taking out the entire EGR system. How do I do this mod on my 00 Z28? Will it be much of an increase? Ive already looked on Install University, and cant find it. Id like to take advantage of the cam, if possible.

I did this on mine when I put the LS6 intake on. I think if you find something to plug and seal the hole in the intake where the EGR tube comes in you can do it on an LS1 intake. If you have stock manifolds like me you need a block off plate for the tube coming off the manifold to the EGR valve. Then just unbolt it from the head, unplug it and pull it off. Mine kicked a code out, probably just telling me that the EGR system is dysfunctional. I just like the idea of having no exhaust pouring through my intake to carbon up everything in there. You may need to run higher octane gas to keep detontation away because without EGR, cylinder temperature will climb. To be sure, I would put a 160 stat in for sure. Since it is getting a little colder outside this may not be a problem for awhile, since the incoming air will be cold.
if your looking to remove the egr as a hp gain dont bother. basically people remove it clean up the engine bay and/or when they get the ls6 intake like i did.
like SSEUL8R said you'll need block off plates for the intake and manifolds, you can pick those up at paceparts, or from derek (dvandentop), or make your own.
and once you remove the egr system you WILL throw a code that will have to me removed with ls1 edit or predator.

Will I Gain any HP from canning the !EGR? I run 93 oct in town and 108 at the track where I really dig into it.

like i said, if your looking at the !egr for a HP gain dont bother, you'll not gain any hp from just removing the egr. now if you swap in an ls6 intake which doesnt have the egr provisions they yes you'll gan hp.

You will not gain any noticable HP from this mod. It only removes the EGR part in the intake and if that was a big obstruction things would be different, but it is small so performance gains would be minimal(not noticable). It does however make a big difference in apperance of the engine bay. Some people have said that it may cause pinging under part throttle b/c of the PCM needing the exhaust gases in the combustion process. I have had mine off for awhile and with EFIlive I only noticed KR in 6th gear once under 75% throttle at about 1300 rpm.

This site should help, did mine using it. Do the AIR mod as well, they both really clean up engine bay.

definitely go for the mod, just cuz it cleans up your engine. not a fan of the idea of dirty air going thru my intake myself. see no point in it. also makes working on your engine compartment hellaciously easier. also helps when you put LT's on there you don't need emissions fittings on them. hehe. one step closer to completely emissions unfriendly
