OK I managed to get this connected properly per Dloves advice, I disconnected the radio, HVAC and power acc before I cranked her up.

Cranked fine no issues, but will not stay on, the car wont idle. It wants to die.

What am I missing? Why is the engine not able to idle properly.

I put the stocker back, no problems.....

Just wanted to find out if anyone has any advice, before I give up on this idea.

If it wont work, I'm thinking of a battery relocation to the rear.

Might want to make sure the connections are all good. Do they feel hot?

Also might look at getting a load tester on the alternator.

Relocating the battery will be worse in your case. As, it puts even more load on the charging system.

No the terminals and the battery felt fine/ normal. And when I meant relocate I was talking about the stocker.

go to the parts store and have them run a load check on the alternator. you can do it with the alternator on or off the car.

if you relocate the stocker, you will have issues if the alternator is weak.

Alright, alright excuse my carelessness, apparently it needed better contact from the terminals on to the actual tiny etx posts.

Managed to get it good tonight, let her get up to temp and waited for the fans to kick on, NO problem as of yet.

I did pull the fuses for HVAC, Radio, and PWR accessories.


I will only be using this for track use, so it looks like I might be ok!

I have been using one for a month now in 30 degree weather with no problems. I just make sure I dont leave anything on for very long when the car is not running.

you can leave the fuses in. Just don't leave anything on while the car is off. One of my friends car has the same battery with the ac, radio, everything.

Thanks dlove, but I'm not taking any chances. Besides it will only be used when at the track.

With that said what should I do to keep it charged and in good condition while not in use?

If you have a trickle charger that would be good. Otherwise just having the battery on the shelf will be fine. I havn't had an issue yet with letting it sit over time not hooked up.

If you are worried about it, I would throw it in every 2 weeks and drive for about 30mins on it.

I keep mine on a trickle charger made for those batteries. I don't think you're supposed to charge them with regular chargers.

I've had good luck keeping mine on my Battery Tender.

Definately don't let the little battery ever go dead, if it does it will not recover. I had alot of problems with mine dying and it never took a charge right again. Last time I ran the car with the little battery I was jump starting it every pass and I was like screw this thing.

I went to a trunk mounted full size and won't look back.

Keep the battery on a little tender when it's not in the car and ya should be fine I think.

I run the EXT14 with no issues but I used some brass flat washers on both sides of the battery cable for a good connection.
