Smallest tire on a 17x9 rim? What is the smallest tire you can run up front on a 17x9 ZR1 rim? I would like the height as the rear tire which is a 315-35-17...

315/35/17 = 25.68"
275/40/17 = 25.66"
245/45/18 = 25.68"
275/40/17 is the stock tire for the 17x9 factory rims, go with those.
245/45/17 is too narrow IMO for a 9 inch wide rim

are you talking smallest as in across the tread or as in sidewall? For sidewall you can get down to like a 30 but it will be a rough ride and will not be comfortable. For across the tread I wouldnt run anything smaller than a 245.
Be more descriptive and also what are you going to be using it for strip, street, canyon carving?

I have 245/40/17s on the front of my 17x9.5 fronts. I honestly like the look. The sidewalls stretch out a tiny bit but nothing extreme at all. ****, look at the ricers putting 215s on 9.5" rims. As far as I've seen, they haven't run into any problems.

If you put a 245/45/17 on a 9" wheel, then lay the wheel flat on the ground, the tire will not touch 
So, imagine a curb....yea that wheel is going to get trashed good!

Thanks for the replies. The car will see the strip a few times, but more a weekend runner.. I would stay with 275's, but I can get a pretty good deal on some 245's so might give that route a shot and watch out for curbs!
