Default hiting the rev limiter, now its knocking help?

hey guys, long story short, i bounced the car off the rev limiter last nite at the track. anyway it spun to about 7k, well it threw the belt off and there is a knock coming from the car now! it sounds like its coming from the top of the motor, when i rev it up alittle the knock goes away and it will back fire alittle. im going to tear it down, what do you guys think it did????

bent valve? loose rocker, bent pushrod?

if i spun a bearing wouldnt it knock all the time? thanks john

typically lifter or pushrod. all you can do is pull the valve covers and pull the pushrods.

when u threw the belt did it overheat? the head gasket shouldnt have been caused by the overrev. def time for a better tensioner and or pulley!

I would say your tick is probably from broken/bent valvetrain components or simply from water in the oil. The backfire has me suspicious of the previous. I can call a cracked cylinder head from 100 yards away, because every lifter in that SOB will rattle its little *** off. Check it over really well, get some good gaskets and bolts and eye that cam and timing chain really well.
