The bcm controls alot of things but most important it reads your key for VATS. The BCM is the larger box located infront the heater fan(passenger side kick panel) The console harness connects to steering wheel for steering wheel controls(blinkers, horn, etc.) The console harness is also part of your tail light harness; so you lose all your speakers and taillights. It is also hardlined to the plugs under the back driver side seat that connects to brakes, fuel pump, and one more thing i forgot what. Its all one piece. I wouldnt mess with it. I have had the whole harness out and i would guess it ways about 25lbs. What are planning on doing?

Is there anything behind the dash that can be taken out? I plan to have mine out over the winter. I may take out the heater but I wouldn't mind losing anything that doesn't need to be there.

I'm thinking about goin in there and taking out the heater core, but I don't want to mess with any wires or anything that will effect the "daily-drivenness" of it....

I dont know what the smaller box behind the radio is. It might have something to do with auto lights. I still have a harness laying around. I will see if i can track the wires down to see what the smaller box controls. Did you cut out the old brackets? What wires did you get rid of?

Who needs brackets? I relocated my PCM and everything undere there. Just crammed it all back up in there and put the plastic cover back n with some additional bracing. Works like a charm
