Default wanting to build a torque monster !!

just got myself a toy to build.. its a 94 t/a lt1 and have been a drag racer for 12 years.. stopped for abit due to growing family.. lol... looking for something to play with on the street as well as the track. i have had a L98 corvette that i did work to.. and a firehawk that i didn't really want to do work to. if you know what i mean.. now i have this never had a lt1 before.. and want to build a torque monster.. everyone always talks about hp. but hp you cant feel.. torque you can.. i mean how meny time can you really open up on the road.. to get the hp.. with torque you can blow things away fast. dont get me wrong hp is king!! its nice to say ypu have 400hp or 500hp.. but lets talk about the 400 and 500 lbs of torque.. the stuff that sets you back in your seat knowing u have a mean car..
love to hear all info....
my car is totaly stock.. looking to pull the motor and get started..
anyone know the best set up for this was looking at the cc503 cam
but like i said totaly new to the lt1..keep in mind still want to cruise on the streets as well.. with the air.. lol
is it possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look at that torque curve from a "high rpm 355" imagine what they would do if torque was the only goal.

I have seen strokers not hit 385rwtq at peak much less at 3400 rpms like this does and is still climbing.

7.2 turbo diesel.

More serious note, 383 at least if you want torque, I am sure there is MUCH more to it than that, but that is a start.

For a mild street build that puts out an instant 350ft.lbs of torque to the wheels and sounds like it is stock would be a LPE 211/219 heads/cam package. If you want more then I would consider a solid roller application which, if built right can give you the best of both worlds, however with that kind of setup comes extra responsibility like checking spring pressures, more frequent valve adjustment/checking lash and using a good quality solid roller street lifter which are expensive.

I would say a 383. Nothing like having enough tq at 2k rpm to pass traffic on the highway. I can hit it in 5th at 2k @ about 50mph and pass semi trucks and multiple cars on a two lane highway with ease, no need to down shift. Makes for a fun street motor for sure.

396 with AFR 210s, 11:1 compression and a small duration cam cam with higher lift on a 110, lots of tq, lots of midrange, and still tons of top end.

383/with the 396 your gonna need awesome heads,
with the 383 you can run ported stockers and enjoy a cheaper build

nothing wrong with ported stockers on a 396 either! He said he wanted TQ, same heads on 383/396 will make about the same power, but the 396 will trump it in TQ by a decent amount. I just dont understand where some of you get your information?

Even so something like that has its drawbacks compared to N/A and more needs to be done to compensate.
