You need to tell us what size the wheel is.., if it's the stock 16x8 as mentioned above, then 255/50/16 is the largest you could put on it.

Too not true, M&H RACEMASTER 305/40-16 fit like a glove and no rubbing. They are a DOT wrinkle wall slick and hook like a *****. I had them on my 16x8 TA wheels and you couldn't ask for a better fit. These tires were made specifically for the 16x8 wheel. I have a set with only about 4 passes on them and maybe 2,000 miles on the street I'll sell you for $ 125

The new Toyo Proxes TQ drag radials come in a 275 45 x 16 size. Should be able to put these on the 16x8 rims. Thinking about trying some of these myself.

Yes it is safe, M/T website said that they fit a 8" to 10" wheel and they are on a 8" wheel. I love them and they hook and book.

If its just drag racing then throw a 255/50/16 MT DR like you mentioned... I ran that for several years and loved it. I pulled a 1.45 60' with that exact tire/rim combo.

If you wanna drive it on the street, it will still work, but you have some *** whobble due to the taller sidewall.

Ok wait are we talking about racing or just street driving. Drag radials and slicks are a completely different story for what you could fit with sizes.., for a normal street tire its 255, thats the biggest.

I wouldn't go any bigger on a 8" rim than a 255...

Here is the only pic I could find of my old set up. 255/50/16 MT in the back on a TA rim. What kind of power you puttin down?

Id like to know what the power level of the original poster is, alot of the times trying to fit the biggest tire on a rim is pointless.. I was over 500hp and still planting the 255's...

450rwhp and about 600+ on the bottle ..

so im sure it might have traction issues .. but a 255 sounds good but i might get the 275 and see how i like them ..
