Default Drilling Weld Prostars for 5/8" studs???

My prostar rims will not fit on my 5/8" wheel studs. They will go on the threaded part of the stud but will not slid over the bigger part of the stud, with no threads. What do I need to do? Can I drill the holes out bigger without messing up the finish on the rims or what? I had to drill out the rotors to 7/8" to fit over the studs. Need help on what to do.

if you had them on smaller studs and lugs with shanks before you probably pushed in a little amount of aluminum and made the hole slightly smaller. just hit them with a round hand file lightly and they should slip on.

I hope you meant you drilled the rotors with a 5/8" bit, not 7/8".

Anyway, we just use a 5/8" drill bit to clean the holes up. Its tight.

Maybe your 5/8" studs are not installed straight or are off some? If they are not perfect you are not going to get the rims to slide over the shank part of the 5/8" studs.

These are brand new Moser axels, but still could be off alittle.

I have no problem with drilling out the rims just wandering what other people were doing to cure this problem.

No, rotors already had 5/8" holes. I drilled them out to 3/4" first but still wouldn't fit, then drilled them to 7/8" to make them fit. Rotors are no problem now. I think I'll start with a 5/8" bit and work my way up until rims fit .

Brand new rims. May just hit them with a hand file.

File or one of those round tube sand paper wheels, hit them lightly. I would stay away from drill bits, as much should not be needed to get them on and they should not have slop in them once you do get them on. My billets were the same way..

I used a sand paper wheel on the holes on the back of the rims, opening them up alittle and then the rims slid right on. Thanks everyone.
