Default Noise in t56 gto tranny in TA

I just got a gto tranny with 12,000 miles on it from a junkyard. keep in mind im still able to return in. and just bolted the tranny in my ws6. Either with the clutch engaged or disengaged throughout every gear it makes a whining noise almost like gears grinding together. I replaced the TOB and the tranny is full of fluid and the whining gets louder as you accelerate. Had the car on the lift and had it running threw the gears and the noise distinctivley is comming from the trans. HELP =X opinions much appriecated
thanks RK

If its making a whining noise in gear with the clutch released, its more than likely the input shaft and cluster gear. 12,000 miles is really low for the unit unless they were some hard miles. Depending on what you paid for it, you might consider taking it back or at the very least have someone locally listen to it and give you their opinion.

Try 4th gear and see if the noise is still present.........
