General Maintenance & Repairs - Second alternator in two months...

So about 2 months ago my alternator died. Basically, I just did a WOT run through 1st, shifted to 2nd, then shut it down. Look at my gauges and "wtf?" Check Gauges light is on and my voltage is reading really low. Well the alternator was pretty new, the previous owner replaced it after the power steering pump leaked all over the last one and killed it. Anywho, the shop I took it to said that this alternator died because the shitty Walmart battery (that the last owner installed) killed it. So I got the shop to put in a brand new ACD alt and a ACD Pro battery.

So here we are 2 months later and the EXACT same thing happens. I did a WOT run through first and just a bit of second and again I look down and the voltage is low. Now, there is a lifetime warranty on the alternator so this shouldn't cost me anything (it's going in on Monday), but what gives? Do you guys think I just got unlucky twice, or is something taking out these alternators?

Something is taking them out. Very unlikely for a part to go bad twice unless there is another problem. Are all the wires good (uncluding ground connections)?

where does the power steering usually leak from? mine is always kind of damp so its hard to tell.

Well I can't be super specific because it happened before I bought the car. But one of the hoses came a little lose I suppose and leaked on the alternator.
