New rebuild i smell fluid occasionaly
I have a 94 z28
I just had my 4l60e rebuilt "beast sungear, shift kit, and all the electonic pieces were replaced, also he did something with the valve body but i dont remember what and upped the stall speed 400rpm
payed 900 with 2 year warranty.
heres the issue ive put 1000 miles of easy driving on it and started getting on it a but today. after a hard pull or if i hammer it from a stop sign when i stop at the next i can get a slight smell of ATF.
There are no leaks under the car at all. Also after WOT or intersate driving i can stop and lift the hood and the dipstick is about a inch out.
also im using AMSOIL ATF

The dipstick pushing out is a BAD BAD thing. One employer had that happen on a plow truck, puked fluid on the exhaust manifold and lit the truck on fire.
Your description of the build does NOT make me feel confident in it.
That cheap means parts were blindly thrown into the case without measuring anything and a lot of the parts were likely very cheap. The beast sunshell is nice but overkill a LOT of the time and like here used solely as a sales tactic, it is also not balanced like the stock one.
For that price the new converter almost has to be a $60 Daycco converter too.
I would suggest you make the guy who built this figure this out. If you go messing with it he will use that as an excuse to get out of the warranty and chances are reallly good you are going to need that warranty.

I second what Caprice said. The dipstick on my 95 TA vert I used to have popped out and fluid spilled onto the headers, and it did catch on fire. Luckily the fire didn't spread and nothing was damaged. It was scary though being on the side of the road with your engine bay on fire and not being able to do anything about it.

Yeah I had a rebuild done by a big shop in Green Bay, good reputation. They did all the HD work for counties around. Everything from Vettes, plow trucks to armored trucks and motor homes they worked with Transgo on the Allison kit. Thing is they could not build a 4L60E to save them. This tranny is a little more difficult to build than most and the chances you got something truely good for performance for $900 is extremely slim. Doubt me start looking into the cost of quality parts and figure out hom much money is left to go to labor.
Hell if it is pushing the dipstick out that is a HUGE red flag right there that there is a problem already.

1. they specilize in 4l60e's
2. ive had many trans rebuild by them without a problem (maybe thats why it was 900 and not more)
seams the dipstick is a common issue with quite a few people so i cant blame that on turners.

Well i replaced the little o-ring in the dipstick top and it stays put now.
also called every trans shop in ocala and they all said there is nothing in the trans that could cause the dipstick to get pushed out
