will oil analysis show if bearings are hurt?

Drain you oil and look at it in the sunlight. Run a finger around in it and see if there are trails left behind in the metal glitter. If you hurt bearings, there will be fine metal in the oil, and possibly small chunks. Also cut the filter open and see if there is metal in there.

It may, if you have excessive amounts of the bearing material or crank material in the oil sample it could indicated excessive bearing/crank wear, however, you'd have to be sure to know what the bearings/crank are made of to ascertain where the increased levels of the certain metals are coming from.

If it's on the drain plug then it's ferrous. Bearings usually are lead and shouldn't stick to the magnet.
If you can see the shavings then they are of a decent size and oil analysis is your best option for determining the metans and wear patterns.
