General Maintenance & Repairs - I tried a diff DRL bulb than normal, results inside

I went out to replace another burned out drl in my 99 T/A today and realized that i accidently put 3757's in last time. From what i've turned up here using search and looking on some car parts websites, 3157's and 3457's are okay but nothing came up abut 3757's.

Now the interesting part, the lights function differently with diff bulbs.

Examples;

3157's
-ignition on, s/w off = dim
-ignition on, s/w in park = dim
-ignition on, s/w on = off

3757's
-ignition on, s/w off = bright
-ignition on, s/w in park = bright
-ignition on, s/w on = dim


I can't remember if its normal for them to be off when the headlights are on. If that's normal then i like the results of the 3757's better.

To ease my mind, can someone verify tell me if that's the proper operation for the 3157's?

Also now that i think about it, when i last changed these bulbs i changed the sockets also. I remember the bulbs had to be "modified" to fit. I assumed it was a defect in the cheap sockets at the time and assumed that the bulbs were correct.

Unless anyone knows of a good reason i shouldn't use the 3757's, i think i'll switch back to them and post some pics.

I must be tired, what does s/w mean? I don't know what bulbs I have, but mine go:
Ignition on, parking brake off=Bright
Ignition on, parking brake on=Off
Ignition on, parking lights on, parking brake off=Bright
Ignition on, parking lights on, parking brake on=Dim
Headlights on=dim
