Default Good response to a ridiculous assumption. lol

A buddy of mine works for an extremely large and well known oil company here in Houston. They recently sent out a site-wide e-mail about rules and other things concerning the property. The list had about 20 "things to be addressed".

Here is one of those things and my buddy's response which he forwarded to the entire staff at his location.

11. What is an "Energy Efficient" vehicle and why do I see vehicles that are obviously not energy efficient parked in those spaces? Our LEED certification requires that we provide a specified number of spaces for Energy Efficient vehicles. Although there is material that suggests how to qualify vehicles, we do not have the resources to perform this task at this time. Our expectation is that people will use these spaces based on the honor system and use good judgment. We will make an effort to enforce using a "rule of thumb" approach. Twice each day we have officers walk the floors in the garage to look for vehicles that are obviously not energy efficient, e.g. Ford Explorers, Chevy Suburbans, Corvettes, or any other V8, SUV or large vehicle. Notices will be left on such vehicles advising that they are not to use these spaces. More communication to educate staff about the appropriate use of these spaces is forthcoming.
and his reply:
Regarding #11 below.................
=====================================

My 2007 Chevrolet Corvette is EPA rated at 18mpg city and 28mpg highway.

I see over 30mpg in my daily commute. The car also does 12.6 @ 116 in 1/4 mile, 0-60 in 4.1 seconds, and tops out around 190mph. The car is as it came from the factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky USA other than catback exhaust and tinted windows.

I don't plan to park in your energy efficient spaces; just thought I'd point out that just because a car has a V8 and is "fast", this doesn't necessarily mean it's inefficient. Gearing makes a big difference. The Toyota myth has gone too far.

Regards,
So far, he still has his job.

Im suprised they arent asking all the gas hogs to park up front being that its an oil company...kind of a stupid email to send out. The engineering company I work for isnt asking us to do that, they just page people when they are parked in the customer parking area to move. But yeah he had a good response..

We entered a CMC Camaro in an 8 hour enurance race this weekend at Texas World Speedway. We were first in class and first overall.

I overheard one of the protesting team say that there is no way a big, heavy, gas-guzzling V8 could out perform an MX-5 on fuel economy.

We beat them by over 2 minutes.
