Default 98 3.8 PCM reprogram to Ls1?

This may be an idotic question, but I'm doing a 98 v6 car to ls1 swap right now, and i'm curious if the PCM in the car can be reprogramed via my HP Tuners to accomodate the LS1. I've messed with HP a lot and on a lot of different cars, but i'm curious if I can change everything over. I've never plugged into a v6 PCM, and never seen if I could add cylinders to anything, i know I can type in 8 cylinders on the main engine screen, but I doubt that helps. Seems like I could change all the tables over from one of my 98 cars, but not sure.
Any input?

I'm getting on my HP right now to search around

The pcms are different.

You need a pcm with a service number of 16238212 for a 98 f-car harness, or a 99-02 pcm, if using a 99-02 wiring harness

There are only a few vehicles you can change the number of cylinders and make it work, ie, the 2002 S10 4.3 to 2002 LS1. (Since they both run the same 12212156 OS)

Thanks, I had a feeling that the suckers were different. Looks like I need to keep looking for a 98 PCM, thanks for the quick reply

no problem, if you need a 98 pcm, go to the florida clasifieds, there is a guy selling a couple of them. I just bought one last week. He had 2 left I believe, good price.

You might also consider the use of a 99-02 ecu. I'm finding that there is not that much "extra" to deal with as far as wiring goes, and Real-Time Tuning is a nice option to have...as well as running a 4l80e (only have to do a ecu segment swap, speartech controller harness, mounts, minor mods) if you eventually decide to do so. That's what I'm using in my 96 swap.
