Default Im currently painting part of my car and ive got it sanded down to where its complete

Im currently painting part of my car and ive got it sanded down to where its completely dull from 320 sand paper however im still into the clear coat i havent reached the base coat yet. Can i apply base coat over this or should i keep sanding until i go into the basecoat. The car currently is completely flat and has no shiny parts on the paint.
Thanks Dan-

all you need to do is scuff it up so it sticks, you want to try to avoid breaking threw the clearcoat if you dont have to, so sounds like you are good to go

you should use a sealer primer before your base coat, did you use 320 with a d.a. or by hand? 320 is ok with a d.a. but by hand you need to use 400-600 grit.

Ya thanks guys. I painted the bumper and fender due to the old clear being gone then I did my ta hatch swap and figured what the hell lets just do the rest of the car . I did go in steps started with 220 to get most of the scratches off then 320 and just finsihed with 400 and 600 in a couple areas.
