GM didn't set that price. A dealer charging a (very) large markup did. GM only sets MSRP, they have no say whatsoever over what a dealer marks it up to. There are plenty of dealers who are not charging markups and will sell at MSRP. Don't let any dealer fool you with "having one left" and that you'll have to wait a year if you don't pay a huge markup. They are building them like crazy and not slowing down, they will be flooding the market in coming months and you will have no issues getting your hands on one, especially in Houston

I was up at Friendly Chevrolet in Dallas yesterday and I counted 15 Camaro’s. All orange (I guess is the new hugger orange) none of them had a sticker price though. They were all SS’s too.

Maybe you didn't read it, but GM has nothing to do with this. Nothing at all. You can't blame GM for what some dealers do.

+1. Go to camaro5.com. They have a list of friendly dealers in your area that do NOT charge crazy markup. The 2SS should not run you over 38k, unless you go RS with the fancy 21's.

These dealers that mark up this much must not be hurting to sell units. This is why dealers around Houston are going belly up. I know there are few customers that will pay stupid prices though to be one of the first to own but not me!!! Rather have a Z!!!!

Yes! Post up the dealer and the phone number if you have it. Everybody call and tell them they are douchebags and didn't dealers learn a damn thing about this when they hurt GTO sales by the same douchebag behavior?

No, but if GM's dealers keep marking up prices like that, buyers will go elsewhere. Like to a Ford dealership.

Does the RS come with the fancy wheels weights on the calipers mod?

Ha, ha! Someone would have to be out of their mind to pay that for a Camaro! Keep shopping bro. You'll find one for about $15 to $17K less than that!

That is with their straight faced markup. I spoke to a salesman last night at the same dealership "Alvin", and asked him what markup is. He tried to give me the BS line about extra options. I calmly explained that I had already built one on GM's website where it gave me the MSRP, then he just said, "Add 5k to that and that is all you have to pay." So, my 2SS/RS with 20's and no ground effects are 40.9k! hahahaha

My dad and I immediately turned around and walked out.

The guy called me today and let me know that they got a black on black SS in today and asked when I wanted to sign on the line. I politely told him that I am not in the market to pay that much for a 30k car.

It'll be stupid like that for a while, no surprise there are plenty of high overhead stealerships going bellyup.

We payed 35,000 for our Inferno Orange RS SS six speed with polished wheels. I ordered it 4 months ago I believe. They are building it now and I am suppose to have it by the end of next month.

There are alot of shaddy dealers that are looking to make a quick fast buck off people stupid enough to pay it. Hopefully those guys go out of buisness as a lesson to the ones that are left.

I went through the same thing here locally. They were out of there mind.

I ordered mine from Gun Chevrolet in San Antonio. They have been great from the get go and they are only charging MSRP which I feel is fair. They call me back everytime I call and took time to go over everything with me. Ken was really knowledgable.

Here is who I am dealing with. They have been nice to deal with.
Joe T is the sales man.
Ken Sherington is in charge of the ordering process.

I live out in the sticks (military recruiter) and I went to two dealers who both said I coud get it for MSRP.

I just want to know what kind of military discounts are going to be available before I pull the trigger.

Yeah, you are correct, but if dealers dont sell cars, then gm goes under. You are one of those people that are quick to jump on someone and try to make them look like a fool, but in return it makes you look like one.

Chrysler seems to be doing more in the active/veteran discount arena than GM, call your two dealers back and inquire.
