Hello,
Does anyone have a pic of a black Trans Am with the Silver lettering and bird CE rear panel and silver PONTIAC fill ins? I am thinking of doing this, but I am not sure if I will like it with the HUGE red tail lights right there. Pics would be great. If it was on a Firehawk, it would be even better, but any TA would be great! Thanks!!!

Oh man i thought i was the only one thinking about that. I have the silver bird and Trans AM and pontiac fill in. No pics though yet. I want to do the bottom in silver so bad I think it would look good with the CE WS6 badge. Subtle Change

A good friend of mine has it done on his black TA.

I went thru the same struggle to judge whether it would look good or not. Obviously you wont have to after looking at the before and after pic

Where can I get the center piece in the taillights that has the silver Bird and Trans Am on it? I'm gonna be filling in the Pontiac on the back with Silver and that center piece would look sweet, plus my stock one is kinda messed up. Thanks.

Damn man, I just had the Part # for it, but threw it away a few days ago... It took 1 week to get to me from GMpartsdirect.com . I have a black TA with the CETA filler. It looks sweet as hell dude, havent take any new pics of it yet, I am waiting for the dealer to order my NHRA emblems that were supposed to be on my car when i bought it.. When I get them on, ill wash up my baby and take some new pics. But IMO i say get it.. Its Nice .

Thanks very much for that info...I'm going to be ordering one of those for mine next month. One thing I don't like about the 98-02 Firebirds is that the bird on that panel is from the earlier 4th gen Firebirds. The 98-02's had the bird emblem like on the CETA's. The stock one just doesn't match and looks crappy IMO.

I just bought the vinly decal and removed the old paint with the mothers paint chip repair kit. much easier than wet sanding and polishing. The lt1 bird really bothered me on the back of the car. it's fine if you go with all the same birds. Most people probably wouldn't notice but it bothered me. Just have to own a TA to understand

do you really have to buy the whole thing from gmpartsdirect? couldnt you just replace the decal? would that be the samething?

All it is is the center piece between the tail lights... why waste the time trying to take off the decal, and then replacing it when you can get a whole new setup for only $81??? It is well worth it. And if you get the overlay for it.. ahh hell..i hate overlays, because they start to peel off @ the sharp points. It is well worth it to just get the piece from GMpartsdiredt. IMO. Anyone second that?

I do. Besides, it's not a decal back there, it is painted on. So having an overlay would be kind of cheesy since it would peel like black02TA said.

Hell, I went ahead and ordered it now while I'm thinking of it. $81.05 just like you said . Not bad IMO for a much improved look...that LT1 bird has got to go.

I would have bought the center panel but cash was tight. So I just got the overlay instead. Its held up so but i would of rather had the CE panel. And yes again no LT1 bird on my car

the cheapest price I got from the parts department as $12?.99

I made one of the guys that work there buy it for me for $96 since he gets a discount.

They look very very very nice. You cant be upset with that mod. I would say the best appearance mod for the rear side of a TA.

I too recommend buying the whole thing rather than the decal IMO.

I have a black 98ws6 with Collector center piece, the Collector black ws6 badge, tail light covers, and silver Pontiac fill ins. I dont jave a pic, but it looks very ,vert clean. Do it, and you will love it!

I've done the silver mods as well. I didn't bother wet sanding and all that other stuff, I just got the Decals and it looks GREAT! Been on for a while now and no peeling. Excellent mod for the black birds.

if u don't have the money for the silver panel just take some nail polish remover and rub the bird off. then take meguiars scratch-x wax and buff out the panel so it is plain black. just get the ugly off.
