ummm so now your friend has a deck and you don't?
and if he needed one right away, why didnt he go to bestbuy or an audio shop? why should you have to pay for a brand new one when yours worked fine?

I've had good luck with Clarion. I'm not too savvy on what the best/newest deck is, but generally you can't go wrong with any of the better brands like Pioneer, Clarion, Alpine, etc.

alpine cda-9887 is clearly the best cd/mp3 player on the market
Only the pioneer DEH-P800PRS competes with it, but the newest Eclipse, CD5030, and alpine cda-9886 look to be other good options
watch out for the multi directional volume *****,
they are impossible to use while driving
I use to have the lower line of this cd player DEH-P980BT, the non premier DEH-7800mp, and the multi directional **** with few buttons was horrible. And the screen was terrible during the day.

+1 for Alpine. I have an Alpine IDA-X100 which doesn't have a CD player, but the sound quality is excellent, even without the IMPRINT module. For the record, I am driving the stock monsoon system with the X100.
If I need to play a CD for whatever reason, I can just get a Walkman or something like that and plug it into my aux. in.
Alpine also makes a 6-disk changer for the X100 and others.
Hope that helps!

^ he left out a lot of details, i wanted to know why lol. plus, i have rarely heard someone talk of a friend on these forums where the guy truly is a good friend. usually its someone trying to sell something for double the worth or buying something for waaaay too cheap etc.
