Default Guys who store your vehicle for the winter.

Hi!
Figured I could get some good advice from this section...

It's taken awhile for me to get my shat together in getting my new motor in and I'm getting ready to fire it.

Long story short... The car has been sitting since august. Do I have to worry about my fuel being bad? What additives or precations should I use? I'm not sure how much fuel is in the tank yet...

Any advice would be appreciated!

I store mine every winter. I fill her up before I park her and 6 months later drive away. If you want you can add fuel stabilizer before you park the car. At this point though there isnt much you can do besides add some dry gas and top her off with fuel.

I agree with the dry gas. Depends on how full the tank was when you parked it. I would run it low and then fill. Do not beat on it with the old gas in it.

I threw some stabil in mine this winter, but never did before. I just left the car full. then in the spring I ran it until the check gauges light came on and filled it up.

change the oil and filter, fresh tank of gas w/stabil and battery tender, also put a couple desecant bags inside the car to keep moisture out. this is how it sits in my garage from oct 1st to mid april.

I would dump the gas by bypassing the fuel relay and hooking a -4 line off the fuel rail.

The other problem I see is worn valvesprings from sitting.Been replacing alot lately from cars that sit too long.

wow, i never knew that. will occasional starting prevent that or do you need to drive it once in awhile?

I always run mine down to a 1/4 when I put it away for the winter. I start and let it heat cycle every two weeks at least. Oil and filter always a good idea after sitting like that.

Most people don't until a valve spring breaks. The worst are 01-04 Z06 corvette stock springs and Comp 918's.I have seen a few dual failures too.
