Default Whats the best M6

We are doing a swap currently, and I got a complete motor. I just need a trans, what year make or model 6 speed should I look for...
Its gunna be a twin turbo car, street driven, but is gunna get abused..
The guys at FLT will be rebuilding whatever I get but I just wanna start with the best unit we can.

01+ T56 from an fbody/vette/etc. If its getting rebuilt anyway, this would work fine.

The most desireable are the 04 to 06 GTO MN12 T56 transmissions because of the double/triple syncros. These trans have corvette gear ratios as well and suppose to shift smoother.

Others prefer the gear ratios for the regular M6 T56 6 speeds equipped on the 1998 to 2002 F bodies. If you want the strongest 6 speed possible, some do the viper conversion with the stronger output shaft and modified extension housing.

I have both transmissions, I prefer the gear ratios on the regular M6 transmission over the MN12. I also can't notice a difference in shifting smoothness between the two.

I may do the viper conversion on my original M6 T56 transmission.
You won't build a stronger six speed that I know of.

I'll second that. Tremec's new T-56 Magnum is the one to buy.

It comes in the New Corvettes (as a transaxle), Vipers, GT500, and the new Camaro. They call it a TR-6060, the aftermarket version is called T56 Magnum, but supposedly they are the same thing.

Actually the MN12 is rated at a lower tq capacity that the rest due to the different gear ratios.

yep. call D&D they are a sponser----->
i ordered mine last week and should get it this week or next.\

and DONAIMIAN that is hard to follow. if you guys call tremec and ask them to email you the online catalog it is easier to follow. lol. but your right they do very from 350 to 450. but still not 700 like the tr6060. so if a non built t56 will actually support like 800. then hell the 6060 shouls support likke 1200. guess i will find out for you all. i am hopping to shove a 1000 horse thought it.

Wow! That's going to be cool.

I wish I hadn't spend so much money on my MN12.

I wonder what those TR6060s will retail for.

The T56 Magnum is priced @ $2795 pls shipping. So far I know of no one that actually has received their units on order. Last time I spoke to my Tremec rep, they said only a very limited amount were available for sale. Basically, I think Tremec has other internal issues going on and stalling their dealers.
