Default What's the best lube for my rear end?

I'm about to inspect my rear differential to find out why my left rear wheel has about half an inch of play inward and outward. So before i go buy some new gear oil i'd though i'd ask what's the best grade (85w-90)? what is the capacity and is it worth the extra money for synthetic? Keep in mind this car is a daily driver in the northeast.

i can't help it
THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID.

no seriously, i vote royal purple for anything. Synthetic is good but you're screwd in the rear if you want to change back to conventional a little ways down the road.

yeah i can be kinda perverted sometimes. I was going to name the thread "Best gear oil for my differential?" but that would have been way too boring.

I'll probably stick with conventional oil to save some money and get the GM posi additive. What is the capacity? 2 quarts?
