Default electrical gremlin

For starters it's a 93Z A4.....
My speedo sits at anywhere from 10-25 mph when the car is idling, weather it's in gear or park. I'm assuming it's a ground wire somewhere, but I haven't got the first idea of where to start looking. Anybody have any suggestions??

Thanks

When you start driving, does it start moving instantly, or does it wait until you reach about 10 mph?

Your speedo may have just went out of adjustment. There was a thread awhile back on adjusting the stock tach. This should work the same way.

Try this.

when I start moving it instantly drops to the starting point and continues as normal (as best I can tell). It's almost as if it's acting like a tach when standing still which leads me to believe a ground somewhere.

It could be the cluster itself, too. I would start by simply unplugging the cluster, cleaning it out with some Contact Cleaner.

Also could be your VSS.

Doing a quick search, I found this.

If you have access to a buddy with another cluster willing to swap temporarily....

Well, since I've had no luck with this issue, anyone near chi town that's got a 93 z cluster that might be willing to let me borrow it for a day or two?? URGH!!!
