Default prc 5.3 stage 2.5 vs prc ls6 stage 1

I've got an mti x1 cam and was wondering which set of heads I should go with. I'm on a limited budget and both are about the same price. I've got an 02 ls1 full bolt ons ford 9" w/ 4.11's.

I've bought both heads 8-10 times from TSP For a customers of mine and both made 35+RWHP with only heads swap and tune.

Just be sure to get the heads milled to 59cc this setup will get more TQ and power for sure.

420+rwhp with M6 Is very possible

With a similar setup as the OP's what kind of gain would you expect with the Stg. 2.5 LS6 heads versus the Stg. 1 (from TSP)?

dont really care about dyno numbers, i want to make the car as fast as possible, not as much peak hp as possible.

do you have a link to those heads?

Who said anything about peak, it makes 300 ft*lbs @ 2250 rpm, don't disregard a setup because it makes decent peak and power under the curve. I understand some people around here hate looking at dyno graphs but it would be a mistake to say that there isn't a good correlation between a car's power and what it can do at the track assuming it can put the power down, etc. The MTI G1 isn't the most up to date cam so I'm sure you can do better than what I have. The heads were milled to 59cc, 11.4:1 SCR and 8.7:1 DCR. http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item...d=649&catid=40

will my x1 cam work with milled 5.3 heads to 59cc? or would there be ptv issues?

would compression be fine for pump gas? 92 octane.

Is there any advance ground into the cam? That will play a determining role if it will work. The MTI G1 cam fit under my 59cc ls6 stage 1 heads. I think the larger intake duration is going to hurt you compared to my cam but I also am on a 113+4 so that didn't help me out either.

Theres a lot of ppl running 5.3 heads with a mild cam like yours and hitting 430rwhp ... i like them over the ls6 heads, stage 1 at least... but you'll need a ported ls6 intake or 90/90 to hit those numbers

on my A4 with a conservative tune and a TQR III camshaft, i made around 385rwhp and 360rwtq (cutouts closed/converter unlocked) driveability is great. no track times, but is a straightup fast car...

I really like the LS6 style heads. The Stage 2.5 LS6 heads are definately my favorite, but if your on a budget the Stage 1 will be a great head that can be upgraded as you move on to bigger & better short-blocks!

Damn, how did I miss this? That was my old car and I sure do miss those heads. I wouldn't mind having another set of those terminators; I've tried to get them from the guy who bought that car from me, but he's not giving them up. I went with a similar setup on my vette with the stage 1 or 1.5 LS6 heads from PRC (I forget), but it just isn't the same... Not to mention I'm no where near that power level.
