So i just installed an ls6 clutch over the weekend into my car, and everytime i start from a stop it chatters. Should it start to go away towards the end of the break in period?

Mine has never chattered on a new clutch doesn't mean it isn't normal i've just never had it chatter after replacement. All the pressure plate bolts were tight right? When I bought my car the guy had replaced it about a month before and didn't tighten one properly and it came out. Chattered like hell till it destroyed the clutch, flywheel, and slave.:bang:

Try to be smooth on your starts and the chattering should go away unless you have contaminated the disc with oil. Drive it in a way that does not induce the chatter.

Did you resurface the flywheel? Thats the leading cause for chatter.
Other causes are grease on the friction surface, bunt disk hub from improper installation and of course a bad break-in.
IMHO when using an OEM type friction surface like I expect you are, it rarely gets any better with miles. With an aggressive aftermarket friction surface, it may take up to 500 miles for it to smooth out.

It is not common for a stock OEM clutch to chatter.

Well i know all the bolts are tight, if there was any oil on the flywheel or pressure plate, would it burn off? or is it ruining the flywheel and plate?
As far as how i start off, i mean ive been babying it since i put it in cause it took me all day to do the swap cause i ran into some problems so i dont want to have to go through that again.

By the way, everything is new...flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, release and pilot bearings..so far i have about 70 miles on it

I've personally never heard of one chattering. I had one in my formula, and it performed flawlessly.
Are you uncertain if you had clean mating surfaces?

Well we did have oil near there, but i cleaned both surfaces off pretty good and looked around for any oil or grease remnants but didnt see anything
