Default exhaust question?

i bought a 98 z28 on saturday M6 car , hard top. only mods are lid,KN filter, fast toys ram air, and the cats have been removed. the guy i boughtit from said he just had new exhaust put on it, i went under it today and they ran pipes from the manifolds to the y=pipe( to remove the cats) which is fine, but then after the y-pipe they used 2 1/4od pipe for the ******* i-pipe. i have an i-pipe that came off a old catback that was on another car i own. i am going to change it out this weekend and just use the 3in ID i-pipe and weld a 1 chamber flowmaster on it..i wonder how much the 2 1/4od i-pipe is choking it..do you think i am going to notice it if i weld the bigger i-pipe and flow on there?

i'm surprised your car doesn't feel like it's falling flat on its face (you didn't mention it, so i assumed) 2 1/4 inch pipe is what the v6 cars came with, stock - and it's quite restrictive on those cars. i would imagine, since i upgraded my 6er to 3inch pipe and noticed a difference, you should notice quite a bit more than me.
