Default reduced exhaust length, now backfire???

Removed 2, 90 bends & rear resonators. Exhaust length is now approximately 4ft from collector to exit w/ only bullet mufflers remaining. True duals 2-1/2", 1-5/8" LT headers. Have tried multiple tuning changes w/ no success & have also posted in the tuning section. There are no missfire codes, valvetrain issues, plug/wire issues. Only unburnt fuel in the exhaust that is causing nasty backfires.

i'd start by checking your plugs, wires & coils.

It has nothing to do with the exhaust, well, i don't know that for sure. It just doesn't make sense that that would be the cause of the problem since the Ls series motors are EXTREMELY popular with the dune buggy (sand rail) crowd and the muffler isn't more than 12'' away from the collector in those applications. My collector is close to 10'' away from the muffler and mine doesn't backfire. Total length in exhaust is prolly 24'' including the muff (i'm rear engined). Good luck
