Default Good Headers?

Im needing some long tubes for my Hawk. I dont want to spend too much. Iv looked at a few for around $500 or so.

Flow Tech-$450
Dougs $585
Hooker-$450
Eldelbrock Drag Race- $470

Anyone have any of these? Any fittment issues with a 6 speed? Y pipe also..have one made or buy one? I had a set of the Ti-Tech Eldelbrocks on my third gen and loved them..Pacesetter looks nice, but I dont see any coated ones on summit. I just looked there..need to shop around but..thats what Iv looked into.

I have the hooker super competition long tubes on my M6 SS

the fit right in! easy as cake to put in...they are the 1 3/4" tube ones. Sound awesome, have a great, straight flowing design...I couldnt be happier.

a few of our sponsors have the pacesetters on sale, with the off-road y-pipe they are cheaper than you are looking for. Check out maryland speed and byunspeed. Their prices are good right now, and thats for coated ones.

I just put Pacestters in my M6 and they fit like a glove. No rattling or K member grinding. Once my brother and I got the stupid motor mounts done the headers literly took maybe an hour.

If you get headers with no emission (aka Race style) you simply remove it all. Its quite easy. You will get a check engine light for it though... but you can tune it out later so you can still pass emissions.

I have the coated pacesetters... the only thing about them is over time they surface rust pretty good, and dont look as hot as stainless steel. Otherwise installation and fitment was awesome. They tuck up decently well, and have plenty of ground clearance on stock suspension. I have never bottomed them out yet.

Oh also the pacesetters are only like $370.

As far as a y-pipe, I strongly urge you get one custom made using a flowmaster merge:

Default consider the Hedman Street series 1 5/8" tubes

you should really consider the Hedman Street series kit part# 68551 painted black or the HTC ceramic coated part# 66551. Both of these will be a direct bolt-on replacement for the restrictive stock cast iron manifolds.
Both of these are 1 5/8" diameter primary tubes that drop down to a stock collector. Otherwise you are looking at a set of long-tube hedders with a 3" collector which will require modifications to your whole system if you need to keep the stock catalytic converters.
The long-tube hedders kit is part# 68534 for painted or # 66534 for HTC ceramic coated. I would reccommend the HTC ceramic coated headers to help reduce the underhood temperatures.

i vote pacesetters, under $500 with y-pipe, ceramic coated, and mine went in easy. Not cutting, grinding, banging, cursing, well i did curse, but that aint ****.

Eldebrocks are the best bang for the buck.. You get the true race merge collector. The Y-pipe fits great, with no modifications, and comes with the band clamps. The headers have the o2 extentions, and o2 bungs.

The biggest hastle is that you have to have the collectors welded on. I dont know if they have one out that has the collector welded on.

Either way, headers and Y for $550.

but apparently that Ti-tech **** doesnt hold up as great as ceramic coating. And the ceramic coated ones are emissions style, boring.

Jegs, headers 449, Y-pipe $106, rough estimate $550, give or take a few $$.

I bet they outperform all the others listed.
