Default best way to build a ford 9 inch

i have an extra camaro rear end (should have come with the car) and i want to build a ford 9 inch with 411s for my 97 ss
im wondering has anyone done this setup before?
and if so what parts or kit did you use to get the best performance and reliability?

thanks

sorry for the confusion, yes the car came with a 10 bolt but it blew to bits last year,
i now have a new 10 bolt inside the car and still have the old one sitting in the corner of my garage.

i was thinking i could use the brackets on a 9 inch.
am i completley wrong?

could be done. but you have to get the tq arm mounted that could make it not worth it. that all depends on your fab skills. I know how to build rear ends and with all the options out there im not sure what the best is yet. im looking into a new rear now. My dd blew the 10bolt up twice already, no more!!! Also want to think about the T/C and ABS. An old 9" wont have it. What were the specs on the car a4 or m6 and year.

If it still has the LT1 and auto trans I would go with good 12 bolt. Little more efficient than a 9" which is good for dd street use and the auto with 350 to 400 hp would last forever. 3.73 gear for cuisin around depending on highway speeds.

ls1's like a little more rpm which could give more options on gears

I had/have both LT1 m6 with 4.10's hated it and LS1 m6 with 4.10's love it only way i would go. imo

m6 can be pretty rough on the rear, autos not so bad

LT1 with 12bolt m6 and 3.73/3.90's might be good balance

ya its a 6 speed lt1.
so 12 bolt in your opinion would better then building a 9"

with an m6 it can get questionable. with power, high rpm, high traction launch. but mild lt1 12bolt should be plenty. its seems the weak link in the 12 bolt will be the limited slip. i think the biggest you can go is 31 spline on a detriot trutrac ( for smooth street driving). that would be my suggestion, the detriot is super smooth trying to drive in the parking lot.

even with that limited slip your prob good to 600 or so. give or take who you talk to.

street should never give you issues. You would have to have a perfectly bad day to blow it up with 350 to 400 hp

MY .02cents

how are your fab skills?

On the other hand you could fork out a couple of more bucks and have piece of mind with a 9". never know what the future holds, My future is holding forged aluminium and NOS bottles

there are to many options

im pretty confident that my fab skills are good enough to put this together is it even possible to take 2 rear ends( a 9inch and a 10 bolt) and make 1.

or should i just buy a 12 bolt and be done with it?

Im to the point Im gonna cover my car, just got the cover today. and wait it out till i have the funds to buy the 9" from midwestchassis.com guys name is Eric cool guy very helpful. Fair price, very expensive, but very fair. you get everything from new tq arm, mounts, drive shaft, the whole package. but its either throw the car in a lake or just fork out the cash and buy this and call it done. its still cheaper for me to do this than buy a new car.

are you checking the classifieds here?

its possible to transfer brackets but what about the abs or if you have traction control and you need a rear end that has provisions for the tq arm if not thats a whole project in its self
