Default ring gear wont go all the way down??

I am installing a new set of gears in my moser 12 bolt and am having a big problem. I have set the pinion depth correctly at -.003 from the # on the pinion. I have installed the new crush sleeve and now on to the diff, even if I take all the shims out it will not drop or mesh with the pinion so that it will drop all the way. Is there any thing particular I should look at?

Could I possibly have been shipped the wrong gear? I was told I needed the thin ring gear and pinion because I have a 4 series diff but I dont think that is what I got and I dont have an old one to check the thickness. Does anyone know the size or thickness of a 4 series carrier ring gear?

^^^yeah that sounds like the problem. i know with ten bolts even when the backlash is super tight they slide together easily.

Looks like I did get a 3 series ring and pinion shipped to me instead of a 4 series, after much research last night I found that the thickness of a 3 series gear is about 1.432 thick and the 4 series is about .312 thinner and I do have the thicker one. This is kind of disappointing because I was all ready to put it in the car this weekend. I also had a long discussion with the company I bought it from about what gear set I needed and they were very helpful. I will call first thing Monday morning and see If they will get me the correct gear set out right a way and continue to be as helpful as they have been.
