question about buying my ls motor?
well i had a few deals fall threw with complete motors with ecu and harness.. so i called the local scrap yard they have an 03 6.0 hummer motor for 900.00 with no harness and no ecu. my question is how much of a pain will it be to get a harness and ecu. i no there are company's that sell harness already done but i would like to do my own because of computer location. and i am a little worried about ecu the scrap yard says 75.00 for a ecu but who knows what its from i will be using efi live.
i hate to spend 1300.00 for a motor on ebay then have it shipped for 300.00 then just buy a 900.00 dollar one from the scrap yard and just find a harness and ecu...
im up in the air here

will then you can add $400-$700 if you buy the front accessory setup from gm and upwards of a and into four figures for others after market setups. Add the starter, adapters, bolts, fuel stuff .. and you could be well over $2k if buying new and HP stuff.
I would suggest looking for a local one with all accessories, wiring, PCM and stuff if you can 1st..
then look for one with as much extra as possible next to keep cost down.
But depending on you budget and what you want.. your choice.. I go for a complete take out if possible.

I would buy one with everything you need and the right oilpan for whatever you are putting it in. I bought a corvette ls1 and had to buy an fbody oil pan to get it to fit in my camaro. There is a guy on ebay who sells LS1s with ecu and harness made for you and ecu preprogrammed. It might be worth looking into.
