Default 72 Chevelle LY6 Cam Only Dyno #'s

I got the car dyno tuned at Speed Inc. last month and wanted to share the results. This was by no means a cheap build, but I was cost conscious and was patient to get the best deals possible. The original plan was to use and LS2 out of a TBSS, but a classifieds scammer scrapped that idea. I settled on a 2007 LY6 out of a rear ended 2500HD.

25k Mile LY6 with stock 823 heads.

Nice ride and a nice clean install! Kind of partial to any A body myself.

specs on the cam??

Just wondering, cause I had a 6.0L(LY6 crank rods and pistons in a 06 GMPP block) with unported L92's, MS4 cam and a GMPP unported intake, my car dynoed 458 to the wheels be 4.10 gears...

now with mild port L92's, custom 242/246 cam, same short block I am making 500+ at the tire...

Just throwing some Idea's out there for future plans!! nice clean build by the way!!

Speed Inc 5 cam or Comp 231/237. Yes its streetable, but i probably would have gone a notch smaller.

Nice, how about the lifters, do they need to be swapped out for LS2's?

thanks for the compliments!

Nope, stock lifters. This is a VVT not an AFM motor. VVT uses regular lifters and valley cover. I did change to longer CC pushrods though.

Are you using the factory radiator? If so, what hoses are you running? Are you using the Kwik swap bracket for the alternator?

I am thinking about doing a carbed ly6 mated to a t56 in my 69 Camaro and I am making sure that I have all the pieces before starting.

Thanks,
Chris

Yes, factory brass 2 core with 1995 Ford Windstar twin cooling fans. The hoses are autozone pieces spliced with a reducer bushing on top. The bottom is cut to fit. I just bent a hanger and browsed the hose rack till I found what fit.

the alt bracket is stock LY6. Pretty sure it wont work on an F-body as I have about 1/2 inch clearance on my A-body.

Hope this helps.

I removed the VVT stuff since it was right before you could get the phaser mod kits.

It still pulls great. Mid and high end is fantastic for such a mild build.

I had it re-tuned by Mike at Straightline and it put down 420/405 on a Mustang Dyno.

Sweet build man. I was thinking about doing the same swap for my 69 camaro. I thought with 420RWHP it would have a bit more trap speed though. How many passes did you get to make??? Trying to justify the swap cause it looks like my current combo 400sbc makes similar power. How is the fuel mileage??
