Default Cruise Control question. . .

So, fuses are good, but the system doesn't activate. . . Where should I look? The turn signal stalk works fine for everything else (signals, wipers, high beams). Thoughts?

May seem unrelated, but are you using LEDs could be the problem.

Do you have ABS or brake lights lit up? Do you have traction control? Did you check to ensure the cable was on the TB

I use LEDs for the tail lights in the rear. They are such low current the computer thinks they are burned out and that disables the cruise and in some cases the ABS. If you use them you have to use load resistors or simulators to make the computer think it has the same current draw as a standard bulb. Sorry about the first post I wasn't very clear. My cruise didn't work for 3 months until I found out why.

idk how the f-body system works, but on my jeep it uses vacuum from the engine. Mine wouldn't activate, because there was a small crack on the cruise control module. I sealed it up and it started working/activating. so maybe check for vacuum leak

for mine, it seemed like an electrical issue. as you would think when you press 'on' the cruise control light would come on even if you dont have it engaged yet, but because of the vacuum leak it wouldn't even let that light come on

Alright, taillights are fine. Again, I never heard of the taillights association with CRUISE CONTROL. I've heard of the tie-in with ABS/TCS/ASR. anyone else? Any places to check voltages or connections or whatnot???

theres a plastic piece thats white thats right above the clutch pedal. The pedal needs to push that little switch in, in order for teh CC to work. If it doesnt push the little switch in the CC wont work. Sometimes it comes a little loose.

01 M6. Checking that little connector you're talking about tomorrow, but I thought that was for the clutch/starting relay. . . .

Im pretty sure the cruise control will not function with the ABS light on. It needs to see that all wheelspeed sensors are within certain tolerances of eachother.

I figured you had abs/tc on. There's the reason your CC doesn't work. Find out what's got that light on and you'll get CC working again

At the cruise control module make sure you have battery voltage with the key on at the pink wire terminal F and the brown wire terminal D. The next 3 steps are also for battery voltage with the key on. You should have voltage at the gray wire terminal A with the cruise switch turned on and no power with the switch turned off. There should be voltage at the dark blue wire terminal B when you press the set button and voltage at the gray with black tracer wire terminal C when you press the resume button. Make sure you DO NOT have any voltage at the light blue wire terminal G. All these steps are checked at the cruise module with the key on and not pressing the brake or clutch. Hopefully this helps

Mine quit working for a little. It was the switch on the clutch that backed out. I readjusted it and it started working again.

IIRC there are 2 switches on the clutch and one on the brake. The upper on the clutch is for cruise, the lower is for ignition, and the one on the brake is another for cruise. That way when you push in either pedal cruise disengages.

I am also having issues with my cruise, when I am on a trip it will work for a while then randomly cut out. After it cuts out and i go to re engage it, it will work right away at times and other times ill have to wait a while and then it will work again. Anyone have any ideas as to why it would be working intermittently like this? The car is a 93 formula a4, also my abs light is on, however it has been like that for two years and the cruise worked fine up until recently. Any ideas are appreciated!
