Well, here are the pics first. Should I either do black, or black with a chrome lip?

Here's the car now:

Gunmetal

Black

Black w/ lip


How should I paint these wheels, since their "chrome?" Should I just scuff them up like anything else and then primer, paint, clear?

Also if I don't like them, can I go back and strip the paint off?

Let me know what you think, any help is much appreciated.

well, no. 1 chrome must be completely removed for the paint to stick properly, not just roughed up. no. 2 the wheels are subjected to hell as far as heat goes so just give them an extra coat or two in order to keep the paint looking nice, then yeah just prime-paint-clear like any other metal. No. 3 gunmetal is the same color as brake dust so that gets my vote.

i would leave them alone. but i would recommend stripping the clear coat off and polishing them up. they look 100x better

after doin mine, i would say spend the money and have them powder coated if you do it. it will cost more, but will be better in the long run. and chrome rims are more of a PITA then painted rims that i did.

Nice, reminds me of my old car in a way! I was always planning on taking the stripes off and going with blackbirds instead but ended up selling the car for the black one. I had the wheels powder coated all black but I wished that I would have kept a little lip on it to give distinction between the wheels and the tires like the new car is, it looks a lot cleaner. You're car looks great btw, keep it up!
