Default how to properly adjust master cylinder?

I recently has a RAM Adjustable Master Cylinder installed on my 1998 Trans Am. I was wondering; what is the proper way to adjust the push rod for optimal engagement? What are the consequences if I have the pushrod too low? Too high?

When I do mine, I put the car in the air, at least the rear wheels. I usually make the rod length as short as possible. Start the car, push all the way down on the pedal and put in 1st gear, if the tires move, you need more length, so adjust accordingly. If they dont, I make it shorter. I like to get the length as short as possible without the tires moving. If you push in on the clutch and the tires move and you leave it like that, you will get premature wear on the clutch. You want to make sure its disengaging 100% before driving
