Default "Grinding Noise" at 1.5k - 2k rpms

I have a 2000 pontiac firebird that has been making a weird grinding type of noise when I accelerate

if I accelerate past 2k rpms then it stops, or if I just turn my car on it wont do it until I have already driven it for about 5 minutes

I have replaced everything from the cat all the way back to a brand new exhaust and it still does it. If you pull down on the pipe right in front of the cat while it is doing the noise it will stop, but continues when we let go.

We temporarily put a nut inbetween a shaft and the pipe right in front of the cat and it stopped it for about a month and its just now returning again... its not vibrating off of any metal or anything and all of us are out of ideas!!!

any help would be greatly appreciated!!
