Default How to fix exhaust leak on 96 LT1 with Edelbrock shorties

The leak is right where the extension provided with the headers meets the y pipe. I got about half of it welded but the welder told me it would have to come off of the car to be entirely welded. Should i find another welder who can do this? Or is there something I can use that will seal it up?

I'd pull them off and finish welding it. I had edelbrock shorties and trying to weld anything with them on the car would suck ***, they have no clearance.

Yea I had those shorties on prior to my current LTs and they were a pain in the *** to seal up. Never quite got the leak fixed. I would also vote to have the welded, its just going to suck if you ever needed to take the y pipe off.

The good thing about those headers is they both come out the top and you can take them off in a pretty short amout of time. 1 -1 1/2 hours. Not like long tubes

for the weld all i really have to do is unbolt the 4 bolts off of the y pipe and unbolt the support, but i dont have the tools, my exhaust guy does. i will see if he can do it tomorrow. who knows he might be able to do it without unbolting anything
