Default Anyone with 17x11 zr1s! Questions For You.

Hey everyone, i have some 17x11 zr1s waiting to be put on and im on the pro kit. the zr1s are 50mm offset. i know a lot of you guys completely cut off the bumpstops but im not really looking forward to doing that. i feel they are there for a reason. my question is can i just cut some of it off to clear my rear wheels? (it doesn't look like it). My next question is if i got the 36mm offset zr1s for the rears, would it clear the bumpstop completely? my main concern is the bumpstop. i know about hammering and rolling the fenders. its just such a pain to have to lift the car by the rear end and having to worry about the wheels getting caught up on the bumpstops! give me some help people! thanks!

the 36mm offset is best for pontiacs. we have more room in the wells then camaros. the 50mm is better for you. youd be going in the wrong direction with a 36mm on a camaro.

i would never cut the bumpstops off. you can grind the bare minimum off without worry. dont go crazy, just slowly grind off what you dont need till you dont hit anything anymore.

personally, its easier for me to jack the rear then the side anyway, so i dont find it such a pain.

Same setup as you and I didn't touch my bumpstops, I've never had a problem. Just jack the car up by the rear end and don't do dukes of hazard jumps.

^^^+1 Did the same, just rolled the fenders a little and have had no problems since. When I rolled the lip on the fender I just used a rubber hammer and a wood block.

No need to cut bump stops, I think most people have this issue because they jack up the car wrong and the bump stops hit. I can't imagine the bumpstops ever hitting when you jack the car up by the rearend. There is so much clearence since the bump stops sit in the middle of the wheel opening. Do what jmm said and you won't have a problem.

you can touch them up with a grinder and they will be fine. thats what i did and i put mine on the lift several times a week. they are ridiculously close with my bfg kd's but they dont touch.

Heres a picture of my car from underneath, its lowered, not sure how much, but you can see the bumpstop is nowhere near hitting anything. I have the 17x11 50mm on the back with 315/35/17, you should be good.
