Question Motive Gears 4.11 9x37 Teeth

Would like to know how many of you have purchased the "new" Motive gears that have 9 pinion teeth and 37 ring gear teeth which is actually a 4.11 ratio. I just bought a set from Thunder in which I thought I was buying 10x41 or a 4.10 ratio. I just found this out last night and will call them on Monday, but wanted to know if any of you have installed this gear set and are you having any problems? Actually, once my installer found out that the pinion only had 9 teeth, he pretty much refused to install them. He has done like 60 rear ends and 40 have been GM with 4.10's. He has only seen one set of Motive 4.11's and could not get them quiet. He said the shaft was about 1/4" in short and the gear teeth were rough. I have searched the web and can't find any info on these gears. The box, styrofoam, and the gearset is all marked GM7.5-410, but they are actually 4.11's. I wonder if this is why some people have good luck and quiet gears and others have noisy ones? Any one care to comment on their experience with the 9x37's. Thanks!

Why the hell would motive make a weak *** gearset weaker? I would'nt install them in my car. I have Motive Hiperf 4.10's and they set up great and have a slight whine @55 but is quieter then 99% of the stock gear's I have heard. When I say whine I mean turn off the radio and focus on having the car at the right "float".

Default New 4.10's on the way!

Just a quick follow-up with my dilemma. I called Thunder Racing this morning and they seemed to be baffled as to why I received 9 x 37 tooth 4.11 gears. They are shipping me a new set of 4.10's out today (had to pay for them) and will give me a full refund on the 4.11's as soon as they get them. I talked to "Chris" in parts and he was great! He said that maybe they were boxed wrong from the factory? Whatever, I am just glad that I didn't get a hassle, hadn't installed them yet, and have the correct ones on the way. It won't be long now! Thunder Rocks!

Default 4.10 vs. 4.11

Update - it seems that Motive does not make a 4.10 ratio gear set according to Chris (parts) at Thunder. GM Motive makes a 10 x 41 - 4.10 ratio gear set, but Motive (what Thunder sells) only makes a 9 x 37 - 4.11 ratio gear set. I wasn't gonna argue, 'cuz I really don't know, but I actually ended up paying the extra $35 for the Strange 10 x 41 - 4.10 set. Spinmaster (KY F-Body) tells me he can make these quiet! I do not intend to flame Thunder in any way, I just did not know there was a difference between Motive and GM Motive until after I made my purchase. I thought it strange that they both have the same part # and the gears are actually stamped GM7.5-410, not 411. Therefore, I am posting this to inform others so you don't make the same mistake! Good luck!
