Default Anyone ever dealt with....

Ed Wright with Fast Chips out of Tulsa, Ok??? I am considering sending my LT1 Computer to him for a tune...he only charges 350 plus shipping, and I need a tune bad. Anyone every used his stuff? If so, was it good, how long, performance, etc??

this guy was recommended to me by Jon at Texas Speed and Performance by name specifically for the LT1. I dont necessarily care about the price as much as I do the quality. From what I was told, this guy is an LT1 genious

Nobody is an LT1 genious thru the mail...
If you want a great tune, go to a reputable dyno tuner.

he does do dyno tuning, but the closest place to me is a place in Lubbock 200 miles away who will do that for 700 bucks...they do dyno tuning at his shop but he is in Tulsa, Oklahoma...I can't drive THAT far just for a dyno tune...

I dunno man. With your setup I wouldn't trust anyone thru the mail to get it right. For a bolt-on car a mail order tune is just fine, but once heads and cam go on there are just way too many variables for a mail tuner to consider.

Pcmforless is the shizzle. Madtuner is good too but $350 for a mail order tune from Ed Wright is absolutely rediculous. He's good no doubt but don't waste your money on a mail order tune that costs $350. You can almost get a dyno tune for that dude.

I got a mail order. But my buddy who has heads/cam got his done by someone in Dallas. I would probably recommend HPP Racing b/c they are real standup guys that I know have the software.

MadTuner did my CC503, full bolt-on's tune, works great. It's not expensive and you can use it to get your car to a tuner in due time if you are not happy with the performance. My buddy has a MadTuner tune for his LE2 package and it works great also.

Ed Wright is the original custom LT1 tuner.

pcmforless was literally copying Ed's work at one point and GOT CAUGHT. They say imitation is the sincerest for of flattery.

I have used pcmforless, and stopped a few years ago. Older and wiser now.

If you are fine with $350 for a mailorder tune then do not hesitate to give Ed a shot.

Madz28 was mentioned too and I have loaded his tunes into friend's cars with good results and he did some pcm repair for me I was happy with as well.

Ed Wright is a great tuner. He burned several chips for a couple of my old '93 LT1's with great results. Definitely recommend him.

Well pcmforless has done great work for many many people and I'll never hesitate to use them. My brother had a H/C 87 GTA with a miniram and an Ed Wright tune. The car ran horribly. Total waste of money. It put out like 270 RWHP. It had trick flow heads and a hotcam. Granted the cam is small but it should have made tons more power than that. Maybe that's why I'm not a big Ed Wright fan. So if pcmforless was copying how do they keep getting business? They are good at what they do. Period.

Ed Wright= normally good tunes but tons of $$$
Pcmforless=good tunes at a good price with $50 for retune.
Madtuner=good tunes and affordable.

I have a 383 with AFR 216 runner heads, and a maxed out D1SC procharger, and my mail order from Ed Wright seems pretty damn good. My appointment is June 26th with him on the dyno. Its worth the 12 hour round trip drive for me.

Ed tuned a few friends cars and is certainly highly regarded and qualified. I'd venture to guess he's tuned over 1,500 PCM's of every combination imaginable. Obviously a dyno tune and live street tune is the way to go, but if those resources are not available to you, a competent mail-order tune from Ed is the next best thing.

I guess I'm just very skeptical of anyone who just gets a computer thru the mail, has (very) limited knowledge of the setup, and tries to tune it without seeing the car at all. Don't get me wrong, you can get something basic, but without all the parameters on a car it seems a tad out there to say that someone can get it dead on.

Rarely dead on, but pretty darn close and better than driving with a dangerously lean/rich/knocking condition.
