Default Tune Required

I posted this in the PCM section but no hits so I'll try here.

I know this is a widely subjective question but if I can get some opinions it will help me greatly. I am currently in the process of converting a N/A solid roller 418 motor to FI.

A little background the previous heads were GTP Stage III LS6 heads and 248/647 114 Solid Roller Cam making approx 11.2:1 compression on 93. The motor made 505rwhp/471rwtq. I am swapping for Patriot Stage III LQ9 heads and the following FI comp cam.

Cam specs are:

Dur @ .050 232 int 240 exh

Lift .595 int .608 exh

I plan on running at least 14# of boost max of 16# once the procharger is on. Now I know a tune is required once I get the blower installed but for just the cam and heads how bad off will I be. Is it a must or can I get by just to start the motor and light driving this is not a daily driver. I don't want to do any damage. I am planning on 9.5:1 to 10:1 compression after the new heads and cam. Keep in mind I expect to put very little time on this car between the new heads and cam and the blower. I just want to be absolutely safe about this. I also recognize the substantial power loss I will probably get swapping all of this stuff but I'm setting myself up for some decent boost.

Thanks

It would likely die for you everytime you slowed down and came to a stop. You might end up washing the cylinder walls down with gas, which will wear out the rings. Bob
