Default Cam questions...

Well my car got some damage done to the motor (ls1) from all the flooding we've had here in Texas the past couple weeks. So right now it's about to get rebuilt. I'm just getting it rebuilt with stock internals because thats what the insurance covers. The only thing I was wanting to do was put a cam in it. I've been looking around but don't wanna just go straight out and buy one if it's not going to be good for my car.

I was going to get some suggestions from you guys and see what might be best for my set up. Which is just a 1999 Trans Am, With Longtubes, Intake and exhaust. I want a nice lope out of the cam. Always trying to learn.

I'd appreciate the help. By the way it's a daily driver.

year car
trans
type of use the car sees

do you have some power goal?

for a more mild cam you can't go wrong with the TSP 224r or the 228r
little more wild would be the "el torro" or the torquer 2, futral F13 or f14
wild side would be the MS3 or 4, TRex, Polluter, Futral F15

those 3 "levels" would get you around 385rwhp, 400rwhp and about 410rwhp....respective.

I decided to go with the Lunati Voodoo 228/233. I talked to some guys here at Clear Lake speed here in Texas. They said that it would be a good cam for my set up in my car. So We'll see what happens. The motor should be done next Friday.

So far I haven't really heard anything bad about the Voodoo line of cams.
I've heard some negative things about some of Lunati's cams but the voodoo's are a custom grind made by Harold Brookshire, and I've heard nothing but good about his work.

I'll be sure to keep you posted on how it turns out.
