What do you do with the car? DD? All out drag? A well rounded gear for A4s are the 3.73s for sure. If you want all out, then 4.10s, although top end will more than likely suffer, as well as gas mileage. I think most everyone uses 3.73s, be it high 10 sec low 11 sec mild builds, and mid 12 sec DDs.

I would go with 3.73's. When I get my gears, I'll get the 3.73's.
2.73's are junk. lol

You're wasting your money IMO if you are going to put a gear in the stock 10 bolt.

Atleast for an auto he has some life behind it. I probably wasted money on mine, but **** it. Pay to play. Hell, Ruckas99ss ran very low 11s on his ten bolt. Others have seen 10s, as I know you have seen. But we are all on a time bomb lol. How much is it nomrally for gears? I payed 250 for both my gears (used here) and install.

I'd say go 3.73s. My friend threw 4.10s in his '94 auto and it was a little too much.

It's just money that could be spent elsewhere. Its normally $500 for a gear install. That's plenty for a 100 shot.

Lol. I kinda feel that way about spray right now...I COULD get a cheap set up for like $400 or so...but I want to do it right, and so that will be like $1k, since I don't like cheaping out in the least bit when it comes to vital parts like that. $500 for gear install?!?!?! Including gears?? Cuz the shop that I went too, and even Tony (zosick...you may have seen his youtube vids. 402 MTI zo6) took his old F bodies to this shop, and they did my gears and gurdle for like $125 or $150. I think I put like 10k or so miles on these gears...yea they whine a bit (richmond), but its not too bad.

i have 3.73s and like them alot. from a roll they kick *** and of course theyre better from a stop. i dont disagree about dumping money into a 10 bolt but its too late for me. ive already broke a couple.

If you have to pay to have it installed just save the money for a better rear.

If you can do it yourself do it, gears are only like $175. I didn't even need the install kit, switching the factory shims from one side to the other got my backlash right. Pattern looked good. Just a hint of whine at 60mph, but I can only hear it with the windows shut and the radio off. I did pick up a new crush sleeve/pinion seal at the dealer.

4.10s. you won't regret it. I went from running 12.69 @ 109 with headers and a tune to running 12.30 @ 113 with the 4.10s.
Highway driving isn't as bad as some say. 60 is at 2300 and 70 is at 2700. 80s at 3000.

I put a 12 bolt with 4.11s in and love it...except Moser can't make a quiet rearend to save their life.

Bear in mind that the taller the gear the easier they are to break.

You won't like cruising with 4.10's and your mileage will suffer too. At 70 mph I say your rpm's will increase by at least 200 jumping from 24/2500 to 26/2700 rpms.

2.73 revolutions compared to 3.23 revolutions compared to 3.73 revolutions compared to 4.10 revolutions really increases the rpms at 70 mph.

Compare that to a 6 speed that probably cruises around 2000 rpms with 3.73.

I've seen tons of threads like this. Basically get 4.10s for M6s, 3.73s for auto.

i have seen lots of auto guys cut 1.5xs in ten bolts with some spraying out of the hole. And if labor is free, that makes $300 to do a complete rebuild with new gears. Not too bad, it can be practical to hang on the ten bolt for a while.
