New Drag Radial 1/8 mile record during ORTC @ South Geor. MP
Not LS-related, but I attended the Outlaw Drag Radial Championship race Friday and Saturday at SGMP. They had numerous classes, including a boosted and non-boosted radial class, real street, limited street, outlaw 632, outlaw pro street, as well as 6.50, 7.50 and open comp. All were contested on the 1/8-mile.
The big news:
Steve Jackson used a Fox notchback with a BBC (I believe, they kept announcing as 632) and a Procharger F3 to rip a new radial record: 4.60 @ 165 mph!! He also ran a 4.69 in the first session Friday night when no one else touch even the 4.70 range, a 4.65, a 4.69 and a 4.63 in the final to beat John Kolivas who ran a 4.72 (which is damn fast for a SBF on a single turbo). Troy Pirez went 4.79 @ 150 mph in winning the No-Boost radial final.
SGMP is still a bad **** for hooking, Wade and crew were prepping all day and night and we say some bad times and close races. If you have the chance to attend part 2 in Bradenton this October, do it!

We were there. Fixing transmissions for everyone. We had several cars running in the Outlaw prostreet class. John Dancu lost at 3 cars with a 4.30. That sucks but what do you do. Eric Kenward who also runs our stuff stood it up on the parachute mount second round in real street and went out. Wade and the boys do an excellent job there as this is the track we rent to test our converters on a regular basis.
