If you have just the filter call up K&N and they'll send you a new gasket under the million mile warranty.

you totally missed what he was tryin to say. He is asking about the gasket and if he needs to use it and if he doesnt will he lose any hp lol

But no you dont need it and you wont lose anything from it. You can just ditch it if you want to

It came with a gasket for a reason. It is required to have the appropriate tight fit.

If you don't use it you run the very good chance of ingesting unfiltered airflow from the wrong side of the filter.

Why would you not want to use it?

I put mine in the channel where the lid fit into, IIRC. I cleaned the channel out and then hit it with a little solvent first. I can't see how it could have come out. Mine's been in there for several years now.

Regardless, if yours was anything like mine, it was way too loose without the stick-on gasket. I'd go back to a paper filter until you can figure it out or verify that your application does not require it. Your call...

it takes longer to post this question than to put on the gasket. USE IT

clean the top of the airbox really well of oils and debris so the gasket will stick good, remove it from the engine, to do a really swell job
