Do you already have aftermarket pistons in your short-block or are you planning to flycut? The MS3 will not fit with those heads on a true flat-top (like OE) piston. However, the Stage 2.5 5.3's and the PRC 215's will

Im running these heads but with the older size valve-2.04 intake and 1.57 ex- but with a -4cc dish piston- the heads were 64cc and a stock gasket so it was nowhere near the compression I wanted to maximize this cam-MS3- but it still ran strong. The heads are being reworked for more compression, I am running a ported Fast 92/92- 1 7/8 headers and dual exhaust. The 5.3s have a smaller runner better suited for a 346 and will give you better PTV clearance. I was running a best of 8.0 in the 1/8 here in west texas on a 315-35-17 M/T dragradial full weight car. Before head work. Car still waiting to get heads back to reassemble.
