Pontiac Firebird 1967-2002 - can an ls1 with 6 speed tranny fit in 67 firebird?

my 400 with auto th350 has gotta go! too many problems. im looking to buy a rebuilt ls1 with 6 speed. do you know if i will run into trouble with this swap. i am new to all this forum stuff and muscle car stuff too lol. i would appriciate all the feedback i can get
