Well I ordered my Mcleod Street twin a long time ago and its still back ordered
and I need to get something fast!
What would your second choice clutch be? Car will prob have around 650 HP by the end of summer and more when I get a 396 down the road.
Help! Need to make a decision asap.

the problem with the 4-5 is the material and there unsprung hubs so one they are on/off kinda clutches and also the material wears quick on the street from wat i was told. it will grab real nice and hard at the track but wont last long on the street. spec 3+ is rated for lik 800hp. that would be my second choice my first obviously bein twin disk

I personally like spec clutches. Some people don't but I haven't had a problem with them. A spec 3+ would be enough. They don't recommend the 4 or 5 on the street I don't think. I know alot of people run with a stock PP and FW and just buy a better disc. Jason at Texas Drivetrain Performance (TDP) sells a 6 puck disk like the spec 3 for like $175. If I were you I would call and talk to him. He is without a doubt THE GUY to go to for rearend work, tranny work, and clutchwork. His number is 817-300-6840. Do some searching in the texas forums and even here and you'll find everyone LOVES his work. It's second to none. He could get you fixed up.

Im thinking Spec 3+ or Zoom HP. Also looks like the 3+ has a higher TQ rating than the 4?
OH and this car is not a DD but sees the street sometimes though.

Not a fan of Spec clutches, I've read about too many failures. However, most of those were on LS engines, not LT engines, which are completely different since they have a pull style clutch.

Zoom makes some good clutches, my friend has a Zoom Muscelc Car clutch set in his Nova and its held up great.

We just put a Ram VDS clutch system in a 2000 Trans Am I recently built. It's a badass clutch. It is drag race oriented in design but is very user and street friendly. The pressure plate has shims so you can adjust pressure in order to get the proper amount of slip off the line. It came with a billet steel flywheel and ARP studs for the pressure plate. It would be worth giving Ram a call to see if they offer a setup like this for LT1 cars. It really is a kick *** clutch

Good to hear you're going to have your clutch in time. I have a ceramic clutch from Competition Clutch in my car. I payed 300.00, I mentioned I saw an ad on LS1Tech and they gave me a discount. It hasn't seen a launch under 3500. It does chatter though. I ordered it straight from he manufacturer and it shipped the same day. So, if something happens and your clutch doesn't come, this is a cheap option. Oh, an you don't have to break it in and it would be a good temporary clutch.

Search around and see if a shop makes custom clutches. I found a shop in Tampa, I told them what I had and what I needed, they made me a clutch. Just another route to go.
