Angry Lt1 coil burns out

I have a 95 z28 my car had some small misfire problems after i replaced the opti spark and now a year later my coil went out, i replaced it and it went out again after three starts, cranks fine and starts fine after a new coil is installed. Any suggestions as to what the problem is would be appreciated.

i'm not a big electrical guy but it sounds to me the coil might be staying energized and burning up. Maybe faulty ign module or possibly a short to ground on a feed wire. need to look at a wire diag.

Totally just throwing this out there, but you might tests the three grounds to the coil on the right side coil stud.

+2 on the ground wire check and possible icm. worst off it could be the new coil

So you changed both the ICM and the coil?

yes i changed the coil module and the coil itself, started fine a few times now it won't start how would i know if it is the opti spark or a bad plug wire?

Disconnect the coil wire from the opti and test for spark at the coil. If it is strong, then you need to test your plugs and wires. If that doesn't solve it, then you likely have a bad opti.
