losing volts
my 98 z28 loses volts at around 2000 rpm's took the alternator off had it checked, it passed. the battery is good, but after driving around awhile it kills the battery. all connections look good, i dont think it has underdrive pulleys all looks stock, anyone have any ideas?

so after the battery is charged it'll start up and then die soon after driving around?
Then what, do you need to charge it again?
Sounds like the alternator IS NOT working. maybe charge the battery and then drive to a parts place to get the alternator tested on the car. maybe the excitor wire is broken or shorted out, which wouldn't allow the alternator to start charging after the engine is started.

What do you mean by "loses volts"?
Do you mean the car shuts off, volts dip into the yellow, or just that after driving around and the engine gets hot you lose a few volts than when you started the engine?

when i crank my car and let it idle it registers 13 volts. when i start driving it, and get up to 2000 rpm's it starts to drop to about 8 volts. the more you get on it the worse off it is. after about thirty minutes of hard driving the battery will be dead. i am starting to think it is the alternator. the only thing is the guy i got the car from said he had replaced it about 2 months ago. i told him what it was doing with me, and he said that's what it was doing with him. i dunno. it's a delphi remy, i guess i could try a brand new one, that's not a remy.

Either the voltage regulator isn't working or the exciter wire needs to be replaced. My voltage would drop down with RPM as well, but when I replaced the exciter wire (wire that plugs into top of alternator) it worked fine. If it's the voltage regulator, you will need an alternator anyway. I would do both as that will give you less headaches down the road.
